Baldwin BOE meets at 5:30 p.m. today

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Baldwin County Board of Education meets today at 5:30 p.m. at the board office  located at 110 N. ABC St. The meeting agenda includes:

• call to order;

• Pledge of Allegiance;

• roll call - establishment of a quorum;

• adoption of agenda - approve the adoption of the March 11, 2014, board meeting agenda as presented;

• community/public participation;

• recognition/presentations - GCSU Students Nicole Bullard and Maggie O’Shea will address the board on YACE — Young Adolescent Creative Expression; Work Based Learning Student-Joanna Simpson - East Central Work-Based Learning Student of the Year for FY13 Winners - Laurie Wallace; Baldwin County Spelling Scholars - Carol Goings, MASAB Temple No. 11, Baldwin Lodge 159 and BAE; Oak Hill Middle School will give the school presentation.

• action items: approve minutes for the meetings held on Feb. 10, 2014 and Feb. 11, 2014; approve March 2014 personnel recommendations as presented; approve the financial reports for the period ending Feb. 28, 2014, for all funds for information purposes only; approve financial reports for the Head Start/Early Learning Center for the period ending Feb. 28, 2014, for all funds for information purposes only; approve the Head Start/Early Learning Center Self-Assessment and the Training and Technical Assistance Plan as presented; approve the Head Start/Early Learning Center Community Assessment Report as presented; approve the Head Start Grant Application, FY14-15 HS Line Item Justification, TTA 2015, Travel 2015, NFS PC, and COLA as presented; approve the Head Start Grant Application GABI Detail FY14-15 as presented; approve purchase order recommendations - purchase from Progressive Communications basic technology maintenance services for Baldwin County District in the amount of $52,000;  

• old business - none;

• new business - approve legislative position suggestions for 2015 as presented; approve the recommendation to name Penny Segal as the Library System Liaison; approve recommendation to not make up the days missed because of bad weather as presented; approve overnight field trips for Baldwin High School - BHS FBLA - State Leadership Conference - March 14-16, 2014 - Atlanta; BHS CTI - Spring Leadership Conference - April 24-26, 2014 - Eatonton; approve overnight field trips for Oak Hill Middle School - OHMS - Region Honor Band - April 10-12, 2014 - Valdosta State University; approve Use of Facilities requests for the use of the Fine Arts Center at Baldwin High School - The Vibe Dance Center has requested the use of the Fine Arts Center on May 16-17, 2014 for their Spring Showcase; the Silas Agency has requested the use of the Fine Arts Center on March 28 - 29, 2014 to perform the stage play ‘Contagious.’

• superintendent’s report - Sales and Use Tax Fund Report for the period ending Feb. 28, 2014;

• executive session - for the purpose of discussing a personnel matter and any other matter as necessary; and

• adjournment.
