Internationally recognized singer performs at Georgia College

Internationally acclaimed singer Jeanne-Michèle Charbonnet and pianist Debra Ayers will combine their musical talents March 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Georgia College's Magnolia Ballroom in the Student Activities Center.

Charbonnet is known for her dramatic soprano voice and passionate stage presence.

"I am driven to perform out of my need and belief in communication and healing through experience of live arts of any kind, both for myself and for the world." said Charbonnet.

She has performed at many major opera houses worldwide, including the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro Real in Madrid, Oper Frankfurt, Opéra National de Bordeaux, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Comunale di Firenze, Teatro La Fenice and Bregenz Festival.

Ayers has also performed internationally alongside singers and instrumentalists. She is well-known for her performance with Breckenridge Music Festival, Serenata of Santa Fe, Taos Chamber Music Group, and Taos Trio. Ayers has also done collaborations with Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Ballet Pro Musica's Chamber Ballet, International Piatti Festival, Vega String Quartet, Arcadian Winds, Auros New Music Ensemble and Aspen Music Festival Chamber Players.

This concert will be a rare opportunity for Georgia College and the central Georgia community. Their performance will include songs by Arnold Schoenberg, and Johannes Brahms, as well as cabaret style songs by musical theatre composer Kurt Weill and American composer William Bolcom.

Tickets are $10 for the public and $7 for Georgia College faculty and staff. Georgia College students receive free admission.

The money raised from this performance directly benefits student scholarships for the Department of Music.
