Financial Planner Ed Weimer represents the new partnership between Alliance Financial Partners and Habitat for Humanity Milledgeville-Baldwin County through sponsorship of the Adopt-a-Home Program.
“I feel very strongly about Habitat’s mission to provide adequate and affordable housing to everyone,” Weimer said. “It’s something I have a real passion for.”
The purpose of the Adopt-a-Home Program is to provide financial support for the renovation of homes in the local community. Weimer and Alliance Financial Partners donation will go toward a home in the Harrisburg neighborhood where Habitat successfully renovated a household in November 2013.
“We will be doing general renovations — structural repair, painting, anything they need,” Weimer said.
Weimer’s hopes are that through Alliance Financial Partners’ partnership with MBC Habitat for Humanity they can raise the level of awareness of Habitat’s importance throughout the community.
Weimer has been on the MBC Habitat for Humanity board since June 2012, and has served as the vice president since June 2013.
“My time on the board has been very fulfilling to me personally. It is something I really enjoy doing, and look forward to doing more of,” Weimer said.
The Adopt-a-Home program selects a home that is owner occupied, and must be located in the Harrisburg community.
“We are here to provide a hand up to our partner families,” Murali Thirumal, executive director of MBC Habitat for Humanity, said.
The families chosen must pay for the materials as well as put in sweat equity. Renovations for the project will reconvene in the spring, thanks to partnership of Alliance Financial Partners.
