City Council set to meet tonight

MILLEDGEVILLE — Milledgeville City Council meets for a work session at 5 p.m. Tuesday in city hall executive chambers. The agenda is as follows: 

• opening of meeting by mayor; 

• Bicycle-Friendly Community Application; 

• tax abatements; 

• presentation from Brad Oliver; 

• adjourn. 

After the work session City Council will holds its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. The agenda is as follows: 

• opening of meeting by mayor - prayer; Pledge of Allegiance;

• adoption of the Feb. 11, 2014 Council meeting minutes;

• old business - Ordinance O-1401-001 - Conduct a public hearing to consider rezoning 103 Lake Drive from MR2 to CC for use as an automotive repair shop; Ordinance O-1401-002 - Conduct a public hearing to consider rezoning 105 Lake Drive from MR2 to CC for use as an automotive repair shop

• new business - Resolution 1402-007 - Authorize tax abatements as requested by the Milledgeville/Baldwin County Economic Development Authority;

New Alcohol License Applications - Bharat J. Shah on behalf of Khoadi I LLC d/b/a Discount Tobacco located at 917 N. Columbia St. for beer and wine retail packaged to go Bharat J. Shah on behalf of Maakli, LLC d/b/a Discount Tobacco located at 1660 N. Columbia St. for beer and wine retail packaged to go; Bharat J. Shah on behalf of Laxmi 12 LLC, d/b/a Discount Tobacco located at 1698 N. Columbia St. for beer and wine retail packaged to go; Calvin Michael Puckett on behalf of Cowboy Bill’s - Milledgeville located at 2657 North Columbia Street for beer and wine and liquor consumption on premises; and

• adjourn.

Contractors are working inside the former Winn Dixie building on North Columbia Street. The City of Milledgeville confirmed that independent grocer Food Depot is looking at the building and recently purchased a demolition permit.
