Cycling for Warriors' donates funds for Veteran's wheelchair ramp

MILLEDGEVILLE —

Michael Schwartz of Cycling for Warriors was back in town Saturday to present a custom-built wheelchair access ramp to the Georgia War Veterans Home with support from Frank May and Benny Watson of the Bicycling Club of Milledgeville (BCM).

The ramp was purchased with funds raised during the cross-USA bike riding fundraiser to help Wounded Warriors.

"We are humbled to be giving this gift to those American heroes," the Schwartz duo said via Facebook.

Schwartz and his brother Steve stopped in Milledgeville last October and joined the BCM Deep Roots Charity Ride. BCM made a donation to their cause.

The men's epic San Diego, Calif. to Jacksonville, Fl. 2,600-mile ride took two months ending on the beach Oct. 24, 2013. The nationwide trip was a sponsored event of Freedom's Heart non-profit corporation formed by friends and supporters of the cause.
