Allied Arts will offer a beginning pine needle basket making workshop on Saturday in Allen’s Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Instructor Amy Clark-Davis, who learned under basket maker Anne Brickhouse, will teach the ancient coiling technique used by Native Americans since pre-Columbian times.
Participants will learn how to weave a coiled pine needle basket including how to prepare needles, basic stitching, addition of thread when weaving, and forming the basket walls.
Interested persons are encouraged to register early as space is limited to six students, ensuring time for individual attention for each student. The registration fee of $55 includes all supplies.
