Alumni couple back to stage for Valentine’s Day choral performance

MILLEDGEVILLE —

Georgia College Max Noah Singers will host their eighth annual Valentine’s Day Rendezvous concert Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Magnolia Ballroom. This year they have invited special guests Jeremy and Mary-Katherine Skidmore.

Jeremy and Mary-Katherine’s love story began while they were students at Georgia College and members of Max Noah Singers. Now happily married, the couple wants to continue to share their talent and passion for music as they perform “As Long as You’re Mine” from “Wicked” at the Valentine’s Day Rendezvous.

“My wife and I are excited about performing because we love singing together,” said Jeremy. “We both feel we were able to build our leadership skills by participating in Max Noah Singers, Mary-Katherine as a section leader and I as choral council president. It made us feel honored to be invited back to our alma mater as performers and not as students.”

Current Max Noah Singers, in an assortment of full group pieces, small ensembles, solos and duets, will perform all other songs.

The event will feature a wide variety of love songs including “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, “All You Need is Love” by The Beatles, “Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan, “Till There Was You” from “The Music Man” and a solo vocal arrangement of “O Danny Boy.”

Dr. Jennifer Flory, associate professor of music and director of choral activities, will be taking a step back this year at the Valentine’s Day Rendezvous as five of her junior and senior choral students take on larger leadership roles.

Two students, Bradley Sowell and Devon Kitchens, will be conducting full group pieces in the concert Saturday and three students, Brianna Riley, Caroline Thomas and Michell Moore will be coaching small ensembles. Flory will coach one small ensemble with the recently formed, Cat’s Meow, and proudly take on the role of facilitator and mentor Saturday as her junior and senior students run the show, practicing for the student teaching they will begin in the next year.

Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

For more information about the performance or the choral ensembles, contact Dr. Flory at jennifer.flory@gcsu.edu or 478-445-4839 or visit www.choral.gcsu.edu.
