The Milledgeville Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) office collected various types of age-appropriate bags for area foster children Friday as part of the annual Totes 2 Tots suitcase drive.

Lori Coleman, Ceaser Johnson and Nicole Colvard of GCS collected the community’s donations of new or slightly used backpacks, diaper bags, suitcases and duffel bags.

The Baldwin County Department of Family and Children Services will pick up the donated bags and distribute them to foster children in need.

This year’s 12th annual Totes 2 Tots drive was sponsored by GCS and Northside Hospital.

Originally held on Martin Luther King Day as a way to honor King’s vision of giving back to the community, the event is now held on the preceding Friday, to kick-off the weekend of service.
