Georgia Cancer Support tea party raises more than $10,000

MILLEDGEVILLE — Georgia Cancer Support's (GCS) recent Tea Party for Hope raised more than $10,000 for the non profit outreach ministry for patients going through treatment. The party was held at Standing Rock Farm May 3.

More than 200 guests attended. The event included a live and silent auction. Artist Stan Strickland brought his artwork and donated to the cause.

Corporate sponsor Magnolia State Bank donated tabletop tea cup plants and more than $2,000. Also, Kevin's nursery in Fort Valley did flower arrangements. Beckham's Used Cars, Heart of Georgia Animal Clinic, Serenity PT, Serenity Wellness Spa, Southside Equipment, Allied Financial Partners, Peavey Trucking, Robbins Federal Credit Union, Mann & Mann Attorneys at Law and many more boosted this great event.

Guest speaker Sophia Peavey is a breast and uterine cancer survivor. She entertained the crowd with her charm, according to organization founder Robbie White.

"'The weather was beautiful, and God's presence was definitely there," White said.

Alley Brantley sang several songs during the tea party. GCS thanks all the businesses that donated items.

"Without these donations, we couldn't have raised this amount of money. Our Milledgeville businesses go way beyond the call," White said.
