Early voting for primary runoff set to begin

MILLEDGEVILLE — Georgia's primary runoff election is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22.

Runoff races include United State Senate, state school superintendent and the 10th U.S. Congressional district.

Early voting begins Monday and runs through July 18.

Elizabeth Rodgers, chief deputy registrar of Baldwin County Board of Registrars reminds registered voters that they can view sample ballots by logging onto the secretary of state’s website.

"If you are a Baldwin County voter log on to the Secretary of State website and go to MVP, My Voter Page, and it will show you our ballot for both Democrat and Republican races."

The My Voter Page can also be accessed on mobile devices. The app is available through iPhone and Android platforms. To download the app search for "GA Votes" in the app store.

The runoff election candidates include Republican U.S. Senate candidates Jack Kingston and David Perdue and Republican 10th Congressional candidates Mike Collins and Jody B. Hice. The state school superintendent race has both Republican and Democratic candidates — Michael L. Buck and Richard Woods (Republican) and Alisha Thomas Morgan and Valarie D. Wilson (Democrat).

Voters statewide turned out for the May 20 primary election. Just 22 percent of Baldwin County’s 20,341 registered voters turned out to cast ballots for the primary and nonpartisan races held last month.

Early voting for the runoff will take place weekdays at the Baldwin County Courthouse in Hearing Room 104 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

"We will be closed on Fourth of July and there is no Saturday voting for runoff elections," Rodgers said.

Voters are required to provide approved photo identification and complete an application to vote.

Winners of the runoff election will move on to the Nov. 4 general election.
