According to the National Weather Service, a quarter to three quarters of an inch of ice could accumulate with locally higher amounts. The higher amounts are expected to be across the eastern part of the state. Snowfall amounts of up to around an inch and a half are possible, mostly in the northern part of central Georgia.

Freezing rain will begin Tuesday night, generally after midnight and continue into Wednesday. Some of the southern areas may see a brief change over to rain. This will transition to snow late Wednesday night.

These high ice accumulation amounts will make travel impossible. This has the potential to be a catastrophic event. Widespread power outages are possible as ice accumulates on trees and powerlines and brings them down.

Northeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
