Chevy dealership expects mid-year opening

MILLEDGEVILLE —

The opening date of the Milledgeville Childre Chevrolet Buick GMC Truck dealership’s new location has been delayed due to heavy rain over the past couple of months.

"The weather has slowed us down," said Bob Childre, co-owner of the local dealership. "The site is ready and we’re ready to get the pad poured, but every time we’ve been ready it rains."

JMWilliams Commercial Contractors out of Marietta is expecting to pour concrete and complete the foundation to the new 25,000 square foot building in a week’s time.

"JMWilliams are using local subcontractors to do work," Childre said. "We’re planning for a finish date by late May or early June."

The dealership has operated on 4 acres of land at 1980 N. Columbia St. since 2010.

The new 9-acre property sits less than 3 miles north at 2710 N. Columbia St., between Walmart and Kroger. Services and business offerings will be expanded using state-of-the-art technology once the business opens.
