Motorcycle awareness all-day Saturday

The Iron Pony raising funds for injured mechanic

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Iron Pony, located at 2693 Irwinton Rd., will host an all-day Motorcycle Awareness Mania Saturday.

DeDe Chaney said a scheduled Poker Run would raise money for Eric Peterson, who is the main mechanic at Macon's Harley-Davidson.

“He was in a bad accident the first Saturday of May, and we are just trying to help out his family,” Chaney said.

Peterson's family band regularly performs at The Iron Pony.

“We are aware because we are all motorcycle riders. It's just everyone getting together,” Chaney said.

Poker run registration begins at 11 a.m. Price is $20 per rider and $5 for any extra hands.

The run travels to Eatonton, Gray, Ivey and back to Milledgeville.

Chaney said all riders should finished by 3:30 p.m.

The event features live entertainment, $8 BBQ plates, bike show, raffle prizes donated from local businesses and a mechanical bull.

Visitors can partake in a $15 pool tournament as well.

Folks can get their cars washed for a $10 donation.

“We've got both girls and guys out there. It doesn't just have to be a bike wash,” Chaney said.

Visit The Iron Pony Facebook page for more details. Contact Chaney at 478.251.6338 to donate or for additional Mania participant questions.

“We are hoping that this pops off, and we can help Eric in a big way,” Chaney said.
