MILLEDGEVILLE — Georgia Military College (GMC) celebrated the grand opening of The Kidd Center, a health and wellness center featuring 56,000 square feet of modern fitness and health education space. The Kidd Center is named for the family of state Rep. E. Culver “Rusty” Kidd III in recognition of his generous support. Kidd cut the inaugural ribbon Friday morning with family on hand. 'It's an honor for this building to share the Kidd name,' he said. Bert Williams, athletic director and head football coach at GMC, was excited to 'open the door to the future of Georgia Military College.' GMC President Lt. Gen. William B. Caldwell IV (Ret.) said the institution has become a premier place for young adults and children to come to school over the last 21 years. 'We are blessed to have this facility,' Caldwell said. 'It's the direct result of individuals who live, work and are associated with GMC.' Construction on The Kidd Center, located at the GMC Campus at 240 S. Elbert St., adjacent to the Cordell Events Center, began in October 2012.
