The Baldwin High School varsity basketball team picked up a big win over rival Washington County on Tuesday, defeating the Lady Hawks by the score of 54-31.
Head coach Anderson Bentley said the score was deceiving.
“We did not play that well,” Bentley said. “I think we came out flat, and we didn’t play up to our potential.”
The Bravettes led 11-9 after the first period before jumping ahead by 11 at the half. Baldwin extended the lead to 13 by the end of the third period and outscored WACO 16-6 in the fourth to clinch the victory.
Tishia Griswold led Baldwin with 12 points Jalissa Dawson added eight in the winning effort. Pearline Walker and Shan Basley both added six, and Walker led the way on defense.
All players on the Bravettes’ bench got a chance to play in the contest. Bentley said that will help down the road.
“We needed a game like this,” Bentley said. “All it can do is help us. We got everyone in the game, we got them all quality minutes and they all got some experience. We’re aiming at hitting our peak right after Christmas when the meat of our schedule comes around. Hopefully we’ll be 10 or 12 deep with experience by then.”
The Bravettes return to action Friday, playing host to Northside Warner Robins. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
