The Georgia College & State University baseball program and head coach Tom Carty have announced the results of the early signing period, bringing in eight new Bobcats for the 2010 season.
Six pitchers, a catcher and a utility player will join Georgia College in 2009-2010, with seven of the eight hailing from the Peach State.
“We are extremely excited about this early period signing class for the 2009-2010 season,” said Carty, entering his second year as Bobcat head coach. “Our coaching staff has worked hard to identify and recruit these young men. I want to thank (assistant coaches) Zeke Mitchem and Clay Kuklick for their tireless hours of work in helping the Bobcat Baseball program bring these quality student-athletes to Milledgeville. This is the biggest and most talented early signing class we have brought in since my arrival in 2005. This class is going to help us continue producing quality teams who can compete for Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships and working toward our goal of a National Championship. ”
The current Bobcats start the 2009 season Thursday, Feb. 5, hosting Erskine College at John Kurtz Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
