The John Milledge Academy Trojans are looking to get back into the swing of things tonight, traveling to Briarwood Academy after having last week off. The Trojan’s game against Trinity two weeks ago was a close and very tough game that gave Trojans head coach Ken Johnson his 199th win as a coach. Johnson hopes Friday will be his 200th all time victory.

The off-week helped the Trojans in many ways. Two key returning players for JMA are Raleigh Garrett, who is returning from an ankle injury, and Garrett Smith, who was injured in the Trojan’s last game. Both have made recoveries and are scheduled to start Friday night.

“Coming off an open week, we’ve just got to go out and work hard,” said Johnson. “I think the week helped because we got some injured players back and everyone seems to be healthy.”

The Trojans will play their last non-region game of the season Friday. The following week JMA starts off their region play against Tattnall Square Academy.

“We really want to have a good game Friday to show that we’re ready for the region games,” said Johnson.

In practice the past two weeks, the Trojans have not changed much in their offense or defense. The JMA game plan is to run and throw the ball without any set plan to favor the run or pass.

“We’ve worked on our running game and our passing execution,” said Johnson. “We’ve put a lot of emphasis on getting our blocking assignments on cue as well.”

The Trojans will travel to Briarwood tonight for the scheduled 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
