Bobcat pitcher earns national, PBC honors From staff reports The Union-Recorder ROLLA, Mo. — Junior pitcher Mandy Chandler of Covington earned the first All-America honor of her stellar career this season, when the Georgia College & State University righty was picked to the Daktronics All-America Second Team, the organization announced. The nation’s sports information directors vote on the Daktronics All-America squads.
Chandler had an impressive season, finishing eighth in the nation in ERA (0.98), sixth in hits per seven innings (3.70), 11th in strikeouts per seven innings (9.2), and 22nd in wins (25). She led the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) in victories, ERA and strikeouts. Her efforts in the circle led the Lady Bobcats to its first PBC Championship, and GCSU has reached the NCAA South Atlantic Region Tournament in each of her three years with the squad. She was one of just two PBC players to make the three Daktronics All-America squads. Chandler also is the second GCSU All-American in the two-year history of the Daktronics softball awards, as Keidra Baitey (2006-07) took third team at third base in 2007.
