The Wendy’s High School Heisman award is an honor that is given to outstanding student athletes who excel in class, on the field and in the community. The 2006 nominees from Baldwin County were Alyson Humphrey (JMA), Joanna Griffin (GMC Prep), Cameron Aycock (JMA) and Chris Couch (GMC Prep).

Each School is allowed to nominate one female and one male student athlete for the prestigious award. After the students are nominated they are judged, and 1,020 student athletes are chosen to be finalists, with 10 males and 10 females from each state chosen.

Humphrey was one of the state finalists for the 2006 program. She is the third finalist chosen from JMA in the past three years. Dena Hobbs was a finalist for 2004, and M.A. Lynch was a finalist in 2005.

On Dec. 11, 2006, Humphrey participated in the award ceremony in Atlanta at Turner Field.
