Billy Berry

MILLEDGEVILLE —  

Billy Ray Berry, 76, passed away Thursday, Dec.  27, 2012. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Bradley officiating. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Greenwood, S.C.

Mr. Berry was a native of Ninety Six, S.C. and graduated from Lander University in Greenwood. He moved to Peach County in the early 1960s and was the band director at Peach County High School. He then moved to Milledgeville in 1969 and taught band in the elementary and junior high school before becoming the band director at the Baldwin County High School until his retirement. He later taught at John Milledge Academy for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Pope and Alice Stribling Berry, his wife, Jo Ann Fowler Berry, and a brother, Gary Berry.

Survivors include two brothers, Danny L. Berry (Joy) and Howard Berry (Patsy) both of Greenwood, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Judy Berry of Ninety Six, S.C. and a number of nieces and nephews.  

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
