Donald Payne obit, Nov. 2, 2013

MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. Donald G. Payne, 78, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ayers and the Rev. Mike Sapp officiating. Entombment followed in Baldwin Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Payne was a native of Dublin and had made his home in Baldwin County for most of his life. The son of the late Parker and Viana Daniels Payne, he served in the National Guard and retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections and was a member of Heartland Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Annette W. Payne of Milledgeville; children Linda (John) Sligar and Allen Jones of Augusta, Kay Goodin of Aiken, S.C., Jeffrey (Dorothy) Phillips of Milledgeville, Debbie Phillips of Haddock; sisters, Evelyn Evans of Rentz and Annie Lee Evans of Cochran; brothers, Gary Payne of Sparta, Jerry Payne of Dallas, Wayne Payne of Warner Robins and Van Payne of East Dublin; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested expressions of sympathy be made to the Heartland Baptist Church Building Fund.
