MILLEDGEVILLE — Mrs. Gladys "Granny" Mildred Pounds, 88, passed away Monday, Sept.  2, 2013.  Funeral Services will be Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Williams Funeral Home of Milledgeville Chapel with  Dr. Don Long and the Rev. Coley Reese  officiating. Interment will follow in Black Springs Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. to receive friends.

Mrs. Pounds was a native of Hancock County and had lived most of her life in Milledgeville.  She was the daughter of the late Spurgeon Franklin Pounds and the late Willie Pearl Smith Pounds and was preceded in death by her son, John Carlo, Jr. and her brother and sisters. 

She loved children and was affectionately known as Granny.

She is survived by her son, James Franklin "Bubber" Carlo of Michigan; daughter, Sheela (O.T.) Pounds of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Barry Ryle of New York, Tammy (Brad) Threatt, Dawn (Jeff) Register and Tracy (Duane) Fountain, all of Milledgeville; 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
