MILLEDGEVILLE — Cary Wilburn Hopson, 53, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Couey-Reece-Stanley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Moseley officiating. Burial will follow at the McIntyre Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hopson was a native and resident of Lufkin, Texas but had made his home in Georgia since 2002. He worked at Ford Motor Company and Clayton County Sign Company for many years but had worked at Georgia College for the past several years. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilburn Hopson; mother, Doris Hosea Hopson; brothers, David Hopson, Curtis Hopson and Keith Hopson.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Faye Blessett Hopson of Irwinton; two step-sons, Joey Richards of Salt Lake City, Utah and Timmy Richards of Guyton; two sons, Don Hopson of Livingston, Texas and Amos Hopson of Forsyth; a daughter Amanda Bozeman of Huntington, Texas; three brothers, Burtis Hopson of McKinney, Texas, Kenneth Hopson of Lufkin and Jesse Hopson of Fort Smith, Ark.; three sisters, Evelyn Layfield (David) of Scurry, Texas, Wilma Mettlen (Donald) of Lufkin and Doris Shaw (Malcolm) of Terrell, Texas; and a number of grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 at Couey-Reece-Stanley Funeral Home in Gordon.
