Pap Boyer

MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. Robert Gordon Boyer, 93, passed away Oct. 3, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, in Williams Funeral Home Chapel of Milledgeville. Interment will follow at Linton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Boyer was a lifelong resident of Hancock County, growing up and living in his family home built by Elias Boyer around 1800. He was educated in Linton School and became an astute mathematician. He was retired from JP Stevens and was a farmer. Mr. Boyer was the son and caregiver of the late Thomas and Clara Jackson Boyer and was preceded in death by his siblings, Elsie Garland, Clarice Gaultney, Aguilla Bridger and Billy E. Boyer. He loved fishing trips with his brother Billy, and he was a member of Linton United Methodist Church.

Mr. Boyer is survived by his sister, Hazel (Hillory) Stanton of Macon; brothers, Jack (Pearl) Boyer, Sterling (Sadie) Boyer, both of Sparta, and Thomas Boyer Jr. of Gordon; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Doris Garland and Scott Boyer.

Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Linton United Methodist Church, c/o Doris Garland, 1670 Ridge Road NE, Sparta, GA 31087, or to the donor’s favorite charity.
