MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. William Herbert “Bill” Johnson, 79, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was a native and resident of Milledgeville. He was a graduate of Georgia Military College and the LSU School of Banking of the South. His career in banking, which spanned more than 45 years, included Baldwin and Habersham County, beginning with Exchange Bank and including Merchants and Farmers Bank, Habersham Bank and Magnolia State Bank. He was retired from Century Bank & Trust, Milledgeville. His life achievements include work as Baldwin County Chairman for the Easter Seal, tireless work with the Milledgeville Country Club, a community leader with Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Jaycees and a multitude of other Baldwin County Community and Civic Organizations. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mrs. Gaydelle Johnson.

Survivors include two sons, Kim M. Johnson and daughter-in-law Linda of Milledgeville and Mark W. Johnson and daughter-in-law Melissa of Augusta; daughter, Joy Johnson Maney and son-in-law Steven R. Maney of Cornelia. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jennifer McCuller and husband Chris McCuller, Michael Johnson, Miranda Marlowe and husband Eric Marlowe, Morgan Brookshire, Madeline Maney, Jacob Dorn and great-granddaughter, Cooper McCuller.
