Ned Godfrey obit

MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. Robert Ned Godfrey, 76, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Aug. 7, 2013, at 4 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel of Milledgeville with the Rev. Andy Adams officiating. Entombment will follow in Heritage Memorial Park.

The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. to receive friends.

Mr. Godfrey was a native of Topton, N.C., and had lived in Atlanta before moving to Milledgeville in 1994. He was the son of the late General Buxton Godfrey and the late Sarah Reighard Godfrey. He was preceded in death by his siblings Buster Godfrey, Max Godfrey and Faye Connor.

He was a member of Hapeville Chapter No 97 F&AM, Perkerson Baptist Church of Atlanta, All Season Hunting Club of Eatonton, the Ga. Wildlife Federation, and NRA.

He was the owner of Johnson & Brown Gear and Machine Works.

He is survived by his wife, Joan S. Godfrey of Milledgeville; daughters, Amy H. (Rick) Newman of Eastman, Tracy Carruthers of Milledgeville, a special daughter Pam Montgomery of Milledgeville, Robin O'Riley of Peachtree City and Cindy (Brian) Kenady of Lilburn; sons, Chris (Melody) Godfrey of Newnan and Rick Godfrey of LaGrange; brother, O.T. (Laura) Godfrey of Mabelton; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and special friends David Black of Chamblee, Neil Douphit of Lake Lanier and George Powers of Milledgeville.
