MILLEDGEVILLE — Velma Darlene Lovett Lanthrip, 67, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013. Services will be held at 5 p.m.  Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Thomas officiating. Burial will be private.

Ms. Lanthrip was born in Bibb County but lived most of her life in Milledgeville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mable Harris Lovett, and her grandfather James Tommy “Pop” Harris. She worked for many years for the veterans home at Central State Hospital, Rheem and as a dorm monitor for Georgia College. She was a member of the Emmanual Baptist Church.

Survivors include her companion, Laney (Bud) Brookins of Eatonton, her son, James Lanthrip (Sherry), her daughter, Janet Lanthrip Paradise (Ricky) all of Milledgeville; two brothers, Tommy Lovett of Germany and Dean Lovett of Milledgeville; six grandchildren Tiffany, Hannah and Macy Grimes, James Lanthrip Jr., James Lanthrip III and Leann Lanthrip and six great-grandchildren, also survive.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the funeral hour at Moores Funeral Home.
