MILLEDGEVILLE — Mrs. Audell Southern Reece, 93, of River St., Ellijay, Ga.; died Wednesday May 1, 2013.

Mrs. Reece was born November 11, 1919, in Gilmer County the daughter of the late Johnson and Arminda Ralston Southern. She was a homemaker and buyer for Reece Brothers General Mercantile, was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church and loved to travel. She also had served more than 5,000 hours as a volunteer at the Gilmer Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Homer Reece; son-in-law, Edsel Austin; sister, Tamer Southern; brothers, Elmer, Blumer, Raymond and Coy Southern.

Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Suelle Austin, Milledgeville; Melba and Steve Mabry, Ellijay; sister: Estelle Davis, Ellijay; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday May 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. from the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Brother John Reece & the Rev. Russell Burt officiating. Eulogy by Suelle Austin. Music was by the Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir. Pallbearers were James Southern, Joe Mabry, Chris Austin, Branson Chastain, Troy Southern, Winston Davis, Dan Southern and Bill Southern. Honorary pallbearers were Remington Austin & Luke Mabry.

Interment was held in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
