Bobby was born in Cleveland, Tenn., and was the son of the late Marvin Joseph & Myrtle Thomas Dunn. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Gerald Dunn.
He worked for Georgia Power Company for 34 years. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman as well as a volunteer firefighter. Many of his friends knew him as the “mayor of Hurst Drive.” He retired at the age of 52 to be a full-time grandfather as his greatest joy was in spending time with his three grandchildren, Haley, Anna and Michael. He was their biggest fan and could often be found watching them play sports, picking them up from school and supporting them in every way possible.
Bobby is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Ruth Rickman Dunn; his son, Jeff (Lisa) Dunn of Milledgeville; his daughter, Suzy (Miguel) Garcia of Macon; three grandchildren, Haley Dunn of Lithia Springs, Ga.; and Anna Garcia and Michael Garcia of Macon; his sister, Brenda Dunn Lyons (Thomas) of Rome, Ga.; his sister-in-law, Wanda Beck Dunn of Tallulah Falls, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family would like to thank his excellent caregivers at The Oaks on Peake Road as well as Pine Pointe Hospice. A very special thank you to his physician and personal friend, Dr. Dipesh Patel, for his loving care, guidance and support.
