MILLEDGEVILLE — Memorial services for Mr. Fredrick G. Key, 82, will be held Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014 at 3 p.m. at The First Baptist Church, Eatonton. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 in the sanctuary of the Church. Fred was born on Stalling Road in Jones County and moved to Putnam County with his family at an early age. He was the son of Gehu and Sallie Miller Key, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his wife, Mary Joe Huff Key, as well as his second wife, Nina Condrey Covington Key, and his older brother, David “Gehu” Key. He is survived by his daughter, Wanda K. (Philip) Brown; his son, Greg (Celia) Covington; his daughter, Kellie (Jim) Lewis; his brother, Guerry (Joan) Key; his very close friend, Ms. Jane Hearn; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Fred was educated in Putnam County and cofounder of Horton Homes. He was also a 50 year Mason and coached prospects, including his brother, Guerry, and Masonic Catechisms.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The First Baptist Church of Eatonton.
