Alma Burgamy

MILLEDGEVILLE — Alma P. Burgamy, 92, of Milledgeville passed away at MCCG in Macon on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Hardwick Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Kitchen officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery in Milledgeville.

Mrs. Burgamy was born in Culverton to George and Vera Power. She lived her adult life in Milledgeville. She retired from Central State Hospital in 1985. She was a faithful member of Hardwick Baptist Church and Fidel Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Burgamy; five brothers; one sister; and sons-in-law, Flanders A. Tompkins of Forsyth and Charles E. Dent of Milledgeville.

She is survived by two daughters, Agnes Beatrice Dent of Milledgeville and Jeanette Tompkins-Ogburn (Charlton) of Forsyth; grandchildren, Dennis Dent and David (Vicki) Dent of Milledgeville, Derrick (Melissa) Dent of Rockmart, Allen (Fay) Tompkins, and Felicia Tompkins Brown of Forsyth; great-grandchildren, Britney Tompkins, Hanna Encinas and Alex Brown of Forsyth, Chase Dent of Milledgeville and Jesse and Coltan Dent of Rockmart; sisters, Kitty Campbell of White Plains and Frieda Coxwell of Ellenwood; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the MCCG, her physician Dr. William Waller, Hardwick Baptist Church members, friends and neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Ike Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown for their love and support during her declining years.
