MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. Francis C. Smith, 85, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was a native of Wilkinson County but made his home in Macon for many years before moving to Milledgeville. He attended Mercer University receiving a degree in religion.

He was a retired employee of the United States Postal Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was a retired colonel with the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Carolyn B. Smith of Milledgeville; a son James O. (J.O.) Smith (Audrey) of Milledgeville; two daughters, Sara Agnes Locke (Tom) of Venetia, Penn., and Cynthia Clance of Macon; two brothers, G. Clifton Smith Esq. (Nelda) of Wrightwood, Calif., and James B. Smith, MD, (Glenda) of Greenwood, S.C., two sisters-in-law, Teresa Jones (Ronnie) and Jackie Bentley, both of Milledgeville; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 until 11 a.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
