IRWINTON — John Thomas “Tommy” Roberts Sr., 84, of East Main Street, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013.

Services were held Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Irwinton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mike Bankston officiated. Burial was private.

Mr. Roberts worked many years for various insurance companies, winning many awards for service. He also worked as a substance abuse counselor. Mr. Roberts was very active in the Irwinton Methodist Church and was well known for his singing and song leading.

He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Beck Roberts, daughter, Pamela (Paul) Nipper, son, John (Bridget) Roberts Jr., grandsons, Jason (Bianca), Joel, and Thomas (Kyndal), granddaughter, Christine (D.J.), and great grandsons Jacob and Drake.

The family received friends from 10 to 11 Monday before the service.

Donations may be made to the Irwinton United Methodist Church or to the Masonic Cemetery.
