MILLEDGEVILLE — Retired Lt. Col. Arland Ruth Henry, 93, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Memorial services will be conducted Friday, May 24, 2013, at 1p.m. in the Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery Chapel.

Lt. Col. Henry, better known to her friends as Ruthie, was a native of Selma, Ala., and had made her home in Milledgeville for the past 26 1/2 years. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mallie Lou Cabiness Henry.

She retired after 28 years from the Air Force Nurse Corps where she had served all over the world, including her time during WWII. She held the honor of being the command nurse and was the first woman to receive a star above her wings. She was a member of Lakeshore Community Church.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Wilson, Ret. Major USAF; special nephew Michael (Charlotte) Wilson of Texas; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
