Enman Sheppard obit

MILLEDGEVILLE — Enman J. Sheppard Jr.,78, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Serenity Hospice in Dublin, Ga., following extended illness from Alzheimer’s.

 “EJ” is survived by his wife, Vivian Tomlinson Sheppard; three daughters, Connie Sheppard Queen, Betsy Lea Sheppard, and Amy Sheppard Arthur; his four grandchildren, Justin Queen, Hilary Queen, Ashley Arthur and Courtney Arthur; and great-granddaughter, Lillian Queen.

A Dublin, Ga.,  native, Mr. Sheppard’s parents were Enman J. Sheppard Sr. and Gladys Kight Sheppard.  He grew up in Dublin, graduated from Dublin High School, attended Georgia Military College and graduated in 1956 from Georgia Tech as a textile engineer.  

Before retiring to Milledgeville, he worked in fiber and carpet manufacturing for JP Stevens, Celanese Corporation, BF Goodrich, Sylvania Spinning, and 25 years with Shaw Industries via West Point Pepperell.

Mr. Sheppard was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club, a trustee for Georgia College & State University, a member of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, the Milledgeville Country Club and the First Methodist Church of Milledgeville.

A memorial will be planned for a future date. Arrangements will be facilitated by Townsend Funeral Home of Dublin, 478-272-3311 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Serenity Hospice of Dublin, Ga., 478-275-2023.
