MILLEDGEVILLE — The Old Governor’s Mansion will feature Civil War era exhibits and lectures throughout October and November. “What We Wore on our Heads: An Exhibition of Civil War Era Headwear” will be on display from Oct. 1 - Nov. 2. “Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War” will be on display Oct. 2 - Nov. 15. “Out the Change the World: The Life and Works of John Oliver Killins” will be featured at the Sallie Ellis Davis House from Oct. 3 - 30. “Picket’s Charge: A Novel” will be presented by Charles McNair Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.

Tri-County EMC is hosting a design contest Oct. 1 - Nov. 8 for its 2013 Christmas Card. Students grades Kindergarten through fifth who live in a household served by Tri-County EMC may enter. For more information visit www.tri-countyemc.com.

Allied Arts will host the exhibition Speaking Highly of the South by Stan Strickland from Oct. 6 - Nov. 15.

Cub Scout Pack No. 325 and New Beginning Church of Christ, 325 Highway 49 W, invite everyone to a Fall Festival from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 19. The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville will hold its second annual Deep Roots Charity Bike Ride beginning at 9 a.m. at the Central State Hospital Pecan Grove Oct. 19. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The five-mile Family Fun Ride is free to all participants, but the longer routes cost $40 per entrant. GMC will host a parade for Alumni Weekend at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 19, the guest speaker will be Lt. Gen. Claude Kicklighter. The GMC President’s Parade will be held Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.

NSDAR will host a 50th anniversary Commemorative Event honoring those who served in the Vietnam War Oct. 20 from 3-4 p.m. at the Birdsong Recreation Center of the Georgia War Veteran’s Home, 2249 Vinson Highway, Ga. Highway 112 S. The speaker will be Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Thomas Greer.

The Oconee Regional Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert, Piano Passion, on Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. at Russell Auditorium.

Georgia DoT will host a meeting at the Milledgeville Mall Oct. 21 from 5 -7 p.m. The event is to give the public an opportunity to review and comment on the Draft FY 2014-2017 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program for East Central Georgia.

ORMC and the American Cancer Society are offering free smoking cessation classes Oct. 22 and 29 and Nov. 5 and 12 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Education Center. Call 477-454-3705 to register.

Oct. 23 - 24 GC’s Sustainability Council will host two events from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The educational events will be held at the Arts & Sciences fountain to raise awareness about sustainability.

Toomsboro Kids’ Club is sponsoring a city-wide yardsale in Toomsboro Oct. 26 from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. in downtown Toomsboro.

A Harvest Festival and Petting Zoo will be held on Oct. 27 starting at 9:45 a.m. at New Vision COGIC, 941 Dunlap Road. There will be food and prizes.

Baldwin High School will present the Haunted Nature Trail Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. at the Baldwin High Nature Trail. The event is $5 per person. For more details contact Pam Howard at 478-453-6429.

8:30 a.m.-5 p.m..: Baldwin County Farm Bureau will have Member Appreciation. Visit 452 S. Wayne St. for refreshments and giveaways.

10 and 11:15 a.m.: LIR will hold a Board Meeting at the MAX Cafeteria, Georgia College. Lunch and Learn will follow. Lisa Brown, RN, Founder and CEO of TenderCare Preschool and TenderCare Clinic, Greensboro, will speak on the topic Family Medical Center Milledgeville.
