MILLEDGEVILLE — Sharon Kaye Hames McChesney went to be with the Lord Jesus on Monday, May 13 after complications from surgery. Kaye was born on June 28, 1948, grew up in Atlanta before the family moved to Hapeville.  Her sister, Judy Paulette Hames, lives in Fayetteville. Kaye met her husband of 42 years, Sam McChesney, at Erskine College where they were in the Erskine Choraleers together. They were married in 1971. Together they enjoyed singing with many community and church choirs, traveling with friends by camper across the United States and Canada, and trips overseas, especially with Marietta First Presbyterian Chancel Choir.

Kaye had a passion for flowers. She was a very caring human being, always looking out for the needs of others and dedicating her life to her family and all those she met along the way.

They had two children together, Emillie Ruth McChesney Skinner and Paul Samuel McChesney who are trying to become a testament to their mother’s grace and kindness.  Millie married Billy Skinner, and they have two girls, Eleana Ruth (6) and Calleigh Rose (1).  Paul married Katherine Rentschler, and they have one son Noah Paul (four months).

Visitation will be Thursday evening May 16 at Mayes-Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, 180 Church St. N.E., Marietta, Ga. 30060(770) 428-1511, from 5 to 7 p.m. The service will be at the First Presbyterian Church, 189 Church St. N.E., Marietta, Ga. 30060(770) 427-0293 at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 17.
