MILLEDGEVILLE — Dwight (Duke) Robert Temple, 70, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013.            

Duke was born in Cheboygan, Mich., on July 2, 1942, and graduated from Farmington High School Farmington Hills, Mich. He was a boat motor mechanic and free-hand sign painter / letterer in his younger adult years. Duke moved with his family to Milledgeville in the late 60’s and then back to Michigan a few years later.

Duke went to work for the 3M Company and was assigned to the copier sales division.  Duke was eventually assigned to the glue, tape and adhesive division where he worked and retired after 33 years of service.  During this period, Duke became known as “Dr. Glue.” 

During that 33-year period, he and his wife, Karen, purchased the property next to Sinclair Marina.  During the past 30 years, they built their family business of weekend / vacation rentals and Duke’s Lounge & Dawghouse where it continues to operate.

Duke is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen (Murphy) Temple, and their children:  Roger Butch, Carrie Frownfelter, Robert Butch and Paul Temple; grandchildren:  Mandy Frownfelter, Paul Butch, Miranda Fultz, Jennifer G. Butch, Jennifer M. Butch, Kyle Frownfelter and Emily Butch; great-grandchildren:  Stephen Butch, Mikala Estabrooks, Amaira Fultz, Lincoln Fultz, Madalyn Hirsch and Hudson Hirsch.  Duke is preceded in death by his father, Paul Temple; mother, Ethel (Birdsall) Temple; brother, Roy Temple; sister, Shirley Temple; and daughter, Lisa Temple.

A visitation was held at Duke’s Lounge on Sinclair Marina Road on April 22, 2013, from 3 to 7 p.m.
