Robert Allen Sr. obit

MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. Robert Bernard Allen Sr., 73, passed away on June 25, 2013. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Young officiating.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Allen was a native of Columbus, Ga., born to the late Richard Cline and Penelope Brittaine Allen, and a resident of Putnam County. He was a 1963 graduate of UGA and played football for the Bulldogs. He was a teacher and coach at Avondale High School, Carver High School, Cross Keys High School, Chamblee High School and Jordan High School where he will be inducted to the Athletic Hall Of Fame. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Barbara Allen of Eatonton; daughters, Jenny Allen of Marietta; Barbara “Squeaki” (Mike) Gray of Lilburn; and Mary “Terri” (Ricky) Hill of Cumming; sons, Robert “ Robbie” (Lisa) Allen Jr. of Cumming, Billy (Kathy) Conlon of Chantilly, Va., Michael (Vicki) Conlon of Bonaire, Thomas (Mia) Conlon of Desoto, Texas, and Jorge (Kristy) Ibarra of Fayettville; sisters, Mary McFerrin, Martha Fouche, and Margaret Hall; brothers, David Allen and Bill Allen; 19 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren also survive.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
