MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. Homer Merritt passed away Feb. 9, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted graveside on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. in West View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Mr. Merritt was a native of Hancock County and spent most of his life in Milledgeville. He was retired from Baldwin County where he served as chief registrar and tax assessor. He was the former co-owner of Merritt-Collins Filling Station. He was the son of the late William Henry and Laura Amanda Cheely Merritt and was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Smith Merritt, and daughter, Miriam Dean Merritt. He was a member of Hardwick United Methodist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Melody Merritt Manning of Milledgeville; grandchildren, William Merritt (Emily) Manning of Macon, Melody “Kandice” (Pat) Mason of Greenback, Tenn.; great grandchildren, Meredith Reese Manning and William Dean Manning of Macon and a number of other relatives also survive.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions made to the donor’s favorite charity.
