Crime Digest

MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

Pointing a Pistol

On July 1, a man reported to the sheriff's office that a driver pointed a pistol at him and his passengers while driving. He told the deputy that a person in a red Nissan Xterra with a Jones County car tag pointed a pistol at him and his two passengers in the area of Old Monticello Road. He first encountered the car on Georgia Highway 22 when he passed the vehicle.

Possession of Marijuana

On June 26 at about 1:50 a.m., a deputy noticed a gray Pontiac Vibe pull out in front of him on Garrett Way with a broken tail light. While sitting at the traffic light, he also noticed a smell of marijuana coming from the direction of the car. After pulling the car over, the driver told the deputy that she was late for work and asked the deputy what he wanted. After being questioned about the smell, the driver admitted that there was a blunt located in the vehicle. After searching the vehicle, a plastic bag of marijuana was also found.

Criminal Damage to Property

A woman reported damage to her vehicle occurring sometime during June 28 while it was parked at a North Columbia Street grocery store. She told the deputy that she went inside the store to shop sometime between 2 and 2:30 p.m. When she returned she found key marks on each side of her silver 2002 Ford Expedition.

Milledgeville Police Department

Criminal Damage to Property

An officer was dispatched to a Pritchard Street residence June 30 in reference to damage done to a woman's vehicle. The victim told the officer that she discovered the window on the passenger’s side of her vehicle was broken. The officer observed the broken window of the back passenger side door of the car. After attempting to question neighbors, the officer also noted that there were several small rocks lying on the roadway on the passenger side of the vehicle that was consistent with the broken window glass.

Criminal Trespass

An officer was called to a West Montgomery Street address July 1 to remove a man who was not wanted on the property. Upon arrival, the officer met with the owner of the residence who said a man who had a previous trespassing order against him was at his home. The man was arrested for criminal trespass and taken to the city jail.
