Sylvia Smith obit

MILLEDGEVILLE — Mrs. Sylvia Underwood Smith, 76, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 21, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in Eatonton Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.

The family will be at the church Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour to receive friends.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Pottersville, Ga. She grew up in Reynolds and had made her home in Milledgeville for the past 12 years. She was the daughter of the late Frederick Sykes Underwood and Leila Kate Underwood and was also predeceased by a son, Jeff Smith. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Eatonton Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, the Rev. Jerry R. Smith, a former Presbyterian minister, of Milledgeville; and children, Julie (James) Brookshire of Friendswood, Texas, Jerron (Barbar) Smith of Virginia Beach, Va., Rodney Smith, and Randy Smith, both of Milledgeville; sisters, Janice (Jimmy) Childre of Milledgeville and Angela (Charles) Young; sister-in-law, Marian (Conrad) Nelson; and grandchildren, Will Brookshire, Jenna Shannon, Lauren Smith, Lesley Smith, Jay Smith and Megan Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Eatonton Presbyterian Church.
