Guy Marvin Duren

MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. Guy Marvin Duren, 84, passed away on June 9, 2014.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Eatonton with Dr. Keithen Tucker and the Rev. Andy Chambers officiating. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at Redan City Cemetery in Redan. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Eatonton on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Duren was a native of Redan and had made his home in Eatonton. He was the son of the late Clyde Marvin and Willie Lois Ellis Duren. Mr. Duren was an entrepreneur and had worked in land development, as well as owning several Waffle House restaurants.

He married the love of his life, Mrs. Dean Price Duren, Dec. 17, 1949, and they were married for 64 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eatonton.

He is survived by his wife, Dean Price Duren of Eatonton; daughter, Nancy Chambers (Barry) of Eatonton; sons, Marvin Arthur Duren (Ann) of Lebanon, Ohio, Ben Guy Duren (Rhonda) of Social Circle, Robert "Neal" Duren of Red Lodge, Mont.; grandchildren, Barry Chad Chambers (Heather), Andy Scott Chambers (Neile), Audrey Elizabeth Keyes (Rick), Matthew Ben Duren (Luisa), Cliff Guy Duren (April), Wesley Marvin Duren (Diantha), Whitney Easterlin Duren, Courtney Fairchild (Ty), Katie Hobbie (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Dillon Guy Chambers, Delaney Elizabeth Chambers, Avery Anne Rowland Chambers, Duren McGregor Chambers, Elloree Catherine Chambers, Hollen James Chambers, Ainsley Elizabeth Keyes, Rebekah Dale Duren, David Mathew Duren, Andrew Joseph Duren, Judah Preston Duren, Macmillan Guy Duren, Sydney Hope Duren, Emma Kate Duren, Elijah Williams and Zoriah Connolly; brother, Clyde Robert Duren (Pat) of Hiwassee; sister, Patricia Ann "Patsy" Mobley of Lawrenceville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Eatonton, Guy Duren Mission Fund.

Williams Funeral Home of Eatonton has charge of arrangements.
