Lillie Sweeney

MILLEDGEVILLE — Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Broswell Sweeney, 95, of Milledgeville will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Story officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at Williams Funeral Home of Milledgeville today from 5 until 7 p.m. to receive friends.

Mrs. Sweeney passed away Monday evening after an extended illness. She was a native of Des Moines, Iowa and had made her home in Milledgeville since 1994. She was retired from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and was the widow of the late Dr. James P. Sweeney, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty (Ernest) Adkins of Milledgeville and Margaret Gray of Isabella, Pa.; sister, Mayme Brown of Anaheim, Calif., and a brother, Carl Broswell of Eldon, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Alan Scott, Steve (Tina) Gray, Jeff (Cindy) Scott, Laura (Danny) Layfield, Julie (Manuel) Grimaldi, Andy Adkins, Cody Adkins, Jarvis Adkins and Desiree Adkins; 14 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request expressions of sympathy be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund.
