MILLEDGEVILLE — Graveside services for Mrs. Louise Nelson Barnes will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, from the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Louise N. Barnes of 852 N. Wilkinson St. passed away on Friday.

Mrs. Barnes  served  as a member of the U.S. Army during World War 11 from 1945-1947. She was in receipt of  a letter from President Harry Truman, The White House, addressing that  she…” answered the call of  your country and served in its Armed Forces to bring about the total defeat of the enemy, I extend the heartfelt thanks of a grateful Nation.”

Survivors include Mr. William Nelson of Milledgeville; brother-in-law, Mr. Willie Griffin and sister-in-law, Mrs. Lois Nelson, both of Milledgeville; nieces and nephews;  and a host of other relatives.

Friends may visit the family at the home of Mr. Willie Griffin, 220 W. Mitchell St.
