John T. Jeanes

MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. John T. Jeanes of Milledgeville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 after an extended illness.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Kim Jeanes and Victor Walker officiating. Burial will be private.

Mr. Jeanes was a 1976 graduate of Jones County High School. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1976-1979. He retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections after more than 28 years of service. During his career, he served at 11 prisons. His last assignment was at Baldwin State Prison where he was the Warden.

In addition to his dedication to his profession, he was also a loving spouse, father, papa, son and brother. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy T. Jeanes, and his loyal lab, Gritz.

He is survived by his much loved wife, Lynn Jeanes, of Milledgeville. Also surviving are three wonderful children, Mandy Williams and Greg Holmes of Milledgeville and Jaime Jeanes of Gordon. Survivors also include: four amazing grandchildren, Harley and Walker Robinson of Milledgeville, Kayla Holmes of Augusta and Fiona Sampson of Gordon; father, J.E. Jeanes Sr; brother, Jimmy Jeanes; sister, Kay (David) Norris; and his loving aunt, Patricia Mixon.

A special thank you goes out to nurse, Patricia Justice and Hospice Care Options for their excellent care.

John has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to Correctional Peace Officers Foundation Inc. P.O. Box 348390, Sacramento, Calif. 95834-8390.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 at Moores Funeral Home.
