Byron Francis Lavender, 66, passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow at Ramah Cemetery.
Mr. Lavender was a native and a long time resident of Wilkinson County but had made his home on Lake Sinclair for the past several years. He was retired from BASF and Carbo Ceramics. He was a graduate of Georgia College and was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Lavender and a brother Michael Lavender.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Lavender of Milledgeville; a son, Chris Lavender (Nikki) of Milledgeville; two daughters, Amanda Lavender Jones (Jonathan) of Macon and Laurie Lavender Tharpe (Jamason Byrd) of Butler; his mother, Margaret B. Lavender of Gordon; and eight grandchildren, Logan Jones, Braxton Jones, Connor Tharpe, Ryan Tharpe, Bridgette Byrd, Lauren Lavender, Emily Dudley, Chelsea Dean.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 at Moores Funeral Home.
