MILLEDGEVILLE —

Mr. Olin “Doc” Echols, 80, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013. 

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel of Milledgeville with the Rev. Larry Glover officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery. 

The family will be at the funeral home Thursday from noon until the service hour to receive friends.

Mr. Echols was a native of Decatur and had made his home on Lake Sinclair. He was the son of the late James E. Echols and the late Rose Clay Echols and was preceded in death by his son, David Echols, and stepson, Donald Morris.

He started working as a boy for Mathis Dairies delivering milk and later went to work for Atlanta Beverage where he retired as a supervisor. 

He is survived by his wife Mary “Ruth” Echols of Milledgeville; daughters, Julie Vickers of Atlanta and Sonya Davis of Buford; sisters, Rose Lee Corbin, Barbara Black, both of Buford, Carol Corbett of Monroe and Linda Sheppard of Loganville; brothers, James Elmer Echols Jr. of Jackson, Herman Echols of Sugar Hill and Mike Echols Sr. of Ellenwood; and six grandchildren.
