Bettye Millians obit

MILLEDGEVILLE — Bettye Owens Millians, 90, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Harold Lawrence and Dr. Mike Cavin officiating. Burial will follow in Baldwin Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Millians was a native of Columbia County, Ga., but had made her home in Milledgeville since 1959. She was a graduate of Georgia College and attended the University of Georgia. Mrs. Millians worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. Rogers for many years. She later worked for the Baldwin County Board of Education and retired as an elementary school teacher. 

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Smith-Bivens Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Millians of Milledgeville; her daughters, Sandra Stephens (Walter) of Ocoee, Fla., and Jane Stone of Blairsville; her son, Jeff Owens (Emily) of Milledgeville; step-sons Rick Millians (Wanda) of Columbia, S.S., and Mike Millians (Vickie) N. Augusta, S.C.;  two sisters, Christine Kauffmann and Martha Marohn, both of Augusta; grandchildren, Chris Owens (Ashley) of Statham, Tom Owens (Laura) of Atlanta, Renee Lundy (Rodney) of Winter Park, Fla., Lori Specht (Carl) of Winter Gardens, Fla., Kyle Millians of Columbia, S.C.; Ryan Millians of Columbus, Ohio; Abby Ethun (Steve) of N. Augusta, S.C., and Beth Allen (Sy) of Tucker; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Smile Train P.O. Box 96208 Washington, DC 20090-6208 (smiletrain.org), Heifer International 1 World Ave Little Rock, AR 72202 or First United Methodist Church Building Fund 366 Log Cabin Road, Milledgeville, GA 31061.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
