Janice Carolyn Scruggs

MILLEDGEVILLE — Mrs. Janice Carolyn Scruggs, 64, passed on to her heavenly home on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Rebecca Baptist Church Cemetery in Milan.

Mrs. Scruggs was born in Thomaston and was raised in the Telfair County area and attended school there and in Wheeler County. She had lived in the Baldwin County area since the early 1980s and worked retail for 20 of those years. She worked for the International Paper Company in Gordon for the past 15 years.

Janice was passionate about genealogy and had published a family history book about her mother's side of the family. She was proud of her Scottish/McLeod heritage. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Allen.

She is survived by her loving, devoted husband, George David Scruggs. They shared a loving relationship for 30 years. Also left to mourn her passing are one daughter, Wanda (David) Price of Lewisburg, Tenn.; two sons, Tommy Allen of Cadwell and Chris Allen of Glenwood; two sisters and a brother, Kathy (Bobby) Rykard, Rosella Spoon and Jimmy Spoon, all of Eastman; one granddaughter; five grandsons; two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one niece; and two nephews.

The family will receive friends from Friday at 10 a.m. until 11 at Moores Funeral Home.

Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Gideons, the Genealogy Room at Mary Vinson Memorial Library, 151 S. Jefferson St. Milledgeville, Ga. 31061 or to Washington Memorial Library Genealogical & Historical Room, 1180 Washington Ave., Macon, Ga. 31201-1790.
